DESCRIPTION:Kittelson & Associates\, Inc.\, in conjunction with the City of
Bend and ODOT Region 4\, invite you to join us in Bend for a discussion o
n traffic safety management. The Central Oregon Transportation Safety Foru
m will have two main points of focus:
 \n
 \n1)Introduce and demonstrate
how quantitative\, data-driven analysis methods can be used to cost-effect
ively guide decision making at network\, corridor\, and intersection level
 s.
\n2)Highlight highway safety provisions provided in Moving Ahead for
Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21) and how those changes may be inc
 orporated by ODOT Region 4.
 \n
\nThe forum agenda is tentatively schedul
ed to address these two main topics with a brief presentation and round-ta
ble discussion that will address the following questions:
 \n
 \n- What
are key elements of a performance-based approach to safety management at n
 etwork\, corridor\, and intersection levels?
 \n- What tools and resourc
es are available to support this approach?
\n- How have City of Bend an
d Clackamas County benefitted from implementing performance-based safety m
 anagement programs?
\n- How will MAP 21 enhance highway safety?
 \n-
How will MAP 21 change how ODOT allocated safety funds among Region 4?

\n- What barriers exist to update current programs to reflect recent advan
 cements?
\n- What shortfalls remain in the methods that could limit res
 ults?
