KAI's Transportation Education Series provides interactive presentation sessions intended to promote professional development and advancements in transportation engineering and planning.
Mary Raulerson of Kittelson & Associates will lead this session which will introduce and illustrate best practices in the field of Complete Streets using case studies she has been directly involved with around the country. During the workshop, special attention will be given to the obstacles that had to be overcome and the solutions that worked. Group discussion will focus on how those same obstacles currently come to bear on local efforts to complete streets. The discussion will also explore solutions and necessary resources that may be unique to our individual communities. The goal is to help identify and tailor practices that will further strengthen the region’s move toward creating, connecting and complimenting great places with great multimodal rights-of-way.
There is no cost to attend this brown bag lunch session and lunch will be provided. The workshop is equal to 2.0 professional development hours (PDH).
Based on feedback from recent workshop participants, we've added an extra 30 minutes at the beginning of the session to allow time for attendees to sign in and network with other public agency colleagues from around the area. The presentation will begin promptly at 11:00am.

Mary is based in KAI's Orlando, Florida office; however, she serves clients nationwide. She brings nearly 20 years of experience in land use and transportation planning with special expertise in developing livable transportation solutions and transit planning. Mary brings extensive multimodal experience involving rail systems, busways, highways, national parks, scenic highways, and bridges. Mary has a proven track record of working with multidisciplinary teams to develop transportation and land use solutions that are community-driven, sustainable, and meet agency needs. She has extensive experience in working with Departments of Transportation in developing context-sensitive solutions that support community goals and future visions, are affordable, and provide sound economic development opportunities. She has worked closely with numerous state and federal transportation agencies, such as PennDOT, NJDOT, FTA, and FHWA to develop and implement transportation policies that focus on the integration of land use and transportation decisions and investments.
