The Central Oregon Series on Transportation (COST) is a seminar series intended to promote professional development and advancements in Transportation Engineering and Planning in Central Oregon.
The Safe Routes to School program aims to make it safer and easier for students to walk and bike to school. It is incredibly important that future generations are able to get to and from school safely each day. While single-occupancy vehicles have come to dictate student travel, there are many ways we can show communities how to encourage active transportation options for our children. And one of the ways we can help is through designing and planning transportation infrastructure with kids in mind!
This presentation will include: Overview of the SRTS program and process Challenges to implementation Getting buy-in from communities Urban and rural perspectives and case studies
