Roundabout Constructability

Hermanus Steyn, a Principal Engineer with Kittelson & Associates, Inc., will present on roundabout constructability.

Construction Considerations with a focus on Roundabouts

A roundabout is a great option in the toolbox for addressing operational and safety issues at intersections. This presentation will focus on:

construction staging strategies, including taking into account project context, applying principles and considering key considerations;

construction scenarios, such as full closure, partial closure, and stage construction; and

closing thoughts, such as addressing constructability during planning and design The presentation will share several project examples and allow ample time to share lessons learned from the audience.

Sign-in & networking begins at 11:45 am, and the presentation will start at noon. Drinks and cookies will be provided. Please bring your own bag lunch. If you have any questions regarding this event, please contact Jacki Gulczynski at 541.312.8300.

About the Speaker

Hermanus Steyn, PE, Principal Engineer with Kittelson & Associates, Inc.

Hermanus has a wide range of experience in a variety of transportation studies and designs for all types of roadways—from local streets to freeways—with a particular focus on conceptual and detailed geometric design. On such projects, he considers impacts to natural resources, constructability, phased implementation opportunities, traffic control, and cost estimating in establishing the appropriate improvements. He also has extensive experience preparing final traffic and roadway plans, special provisions, and cost estimates for transportation engineering projects. Hermanus understands the interaction between geometry, operations, and safety, as well as consider and analyze trade-offs to development community-based solutions.
