Traffic Signal Timing: "What's your priority?"

On behalf of Kittelson & Associates, Inc. in Oakland (formerly Dowling Associates), we are pleased to invite you to attend the first workshop in our new Transportation Education Series (TES). These interactive workshops focus on a wide range of topics and are intended to promote professional development and advancements in transportation engineering and planning. The sessions also provide a unique forum for transportation professionals from a wide range of public agencies to share their ideas, best practices, and challenges. Participants earn credits that can be applied to continuing education requirements. We have a wonderful opportunity lined up for you in May regarding traffic signal systems. Details are listed below and we hope to see you at the first event of this new series in the Bay Area.

About the Workshop

Transportation engineers and planners are oftentimes challenged by the wide range of issues involving operating and maintaining our traffic signal systems. As professionals, we grapple with balancing a multitude of competing priorities such as providing adequate capacity, minimizing vehicle queues, accommodating transit and truck operations, improving pedestrian safety, and minimizing air quality impacts. This workshop is focused on discussing some innovative tools and techniques that help address these issues.

The session will feature Dr. Tom Urbanik, Principal Investigator for the 2nd edition of the upcoming FHWA Signal Timing Manual, as well as Kevin Lee, P.E. and Senior Engineer, who will provide a series of case studies on successful planning, design, and implementation of transit signal priority, queue jump and bypass lanes treatments.

Topics to be covered in this interactive question and answer session include:

There is no charge for this workshop. Registration & networking begins at 8:00am. Presentations and the Q&A will start at 8:30am and run till 9.30am. Coffee and Pastries will be provided and there is no cost to attend this workshop. TES workshop attendees are eligible for 1 Professional Development Hour credit (PDH).

If you have any questions regarding your registration, please contact Andi Hawley at (510) 839-1742x100.

We look forward to seeing you there!
