Learn how to use two recent NCHRP reports to plan, analyze, and design intersections that work for all users, with a specific focus on alternative intersection and interchange forms.
The presentation will include:
An overview of NCHRP Report 948, Pedestrian and Bicyclist Safety at Alternative and Other Intersections and Interchanges, and NCHRP Report 1087, Guide for Intersection Control Evaluation (ICE), from the principal investigator of both reports
Examples of how NCHRP Report 948’s “20 Design Flag” method, which highlights design characteristics that impact safety and quality of service for people walking and biking, is already being used by many agencies across the country
Examples of how the methods from NCHRP Report 1087 have already been integrated into web-based intersection control evaluation (ICE) tools in some states
